World Civilizations is a survey course covering world civilizations from their ancient roots to medieval times. It will cover topics ranging from religious traditions to famous rulers and overarching themes such as global interdependence and cultural diffusion. We will also discuss various timely current events to draw connections between our study of the ancient world and its history’s effect upon today’s geopolitical landscape.

Keystone School’s Advanced Placement European History course is a college level survey course that introduces students to the rich political, cultural, social and intellectual heritage of European civilization. Advanced Placement courses are part of a cooperative endeavor by high schools, colleges, and the College Board that provide highly motivated students the challenge and opportunity to earn college credit during their high school years. Performance on The College Board’s Advanced Placement European history exam determines a student’s eligibility for up to six hour of college credit. Course curriculum, materials and expectations are designed to both prepare students for success upon this three hour test and to develop skills and knowledge that will be helpful in future educational endeavors. This course is required of all sophomore students at Keystone School.
