We will begin by reviewing problem solving strategies needed in order to be successful throughout the year. From there, we will go into developing number sense, building an understanding of fractions, decimals, percents and the relationships among these concepts. At that point we will be ready to apply the skills learned to basic computation, statistics, probability, and algebraic expressions.

We will begin by reviewing problem solving strategies needed in order to be a successful mathematics student. Negative numbers will then be introduced, which will allow students to apply rules for dealing with negative and positive numbers for the remainder of the year. From there, we will go into developing number sense, which includes b uilding an understanding of rational numbers, ratios, percents and the relationships among these concepts. At that point we will be ready to apply the skills learned to solving algebraic equations, statistics, and probability.
